Artist Series – Blue Botanics / Saturday 27th April


Learn all about Cyanotypes with artist Hannah Fletcher. Moving between the darkroom and a local park you’ll source your own leaves & flowers before using them to make your botanical Cyanotypes. You’ll also by trying flower pounding to add highlights to the final pieces. Each participant will make 9 squares which will eventually be sewn together at the end of the course to make a mini patchwork quilt to take home! Hannah Fletcher is co-director of London Alternative Photography Collective, a specialist in alternative techniques and exhibits internationally. Most recently she’s taken the collective to exhibit as part of Unseen photo festival, Amsterdam.

Saturday 27th April.

11am : Meet at Bright Rooms

11.15 – 12 : Learn how to use cyanotype and coat your material.

12 – 12.45 : Whilst the material is drying take a walk in the local park to collect your specimens!

12.45 – 2 : Compose and make your cyanotype using UV exposure units. You’ll also be making negative cyanotypes by tracing and cutting stencils of your chosen specimens. Once your patch work quilt is ready we’ll stitch it together for you to take home!
